Waring HPB300BK Mega Mix Commercial Bar Blender

Waring Blenders No Comments »

Powerful, sturdy, and frill-free, the Waring Mega Mix commercial bar blender puts function first and foremost. Equipped with a one-horsepower, commercially rated motor, the unit delivers quick ice crushing and consistent blending of drinks, desserts, soups, and sauces. Operation is as simple as it gets–one metal toggle controls the two speeds–and the four-angle blades turn up to 27,000 rpm. Designed for both hot and cold ingredients, the durable 48-ounce plastic container features a broad base for tip-resistance and a flexible lid with a removable insert. Markings in ounces and liters help you track recipes. Cooks accustomed to a tight connection between container and base may find the Waring’s fit unusual at first–the container simply rests on the clutch instead of locking on. Fitted with non-skid feet and a heavy-duty three-prong cord, the blender measures 6 inches in diameter and stands 16-1/2 inches high. It carries a five-year warranty on the motor and a one-year warranty on the rest of the appliance. –Emily Bedard

Customer Review: Works as advertised

Shipping was perfect. The product is easy to use — works great for soups, sauces and anting else that needs to be pureed.

Customer Review: A Real Blender

I bought this to replace a Kitchen Aid.

The Kitchen Aid uses a coupler on top of the motor which spins the blade that’s made out of rubber over metal which will break if you make lots of frozen fruit drinks. That’s what I had happen.

The Waring uses the same type of design, but the difference is that you can buy a replacement ($5.95) and put it on yourself with a wrench If it were to ever come apart. The Kitchen Aid has to be serviced, take apart the motor to get to it from the inside etc.

This Waring Blender is very powerful! It’s loud and spins very fast. It blends in a fraction of the time of others. It makes my old Kitchen-Aid seem like a childs toy in comparison.

Note: You don’t load the thing up with frozen fruit or else it may just jam and won’t spin. Also you’re supposed to drop the ice in from the top while it’s running.

It’s much more obviously commercial through heft, simplicity of design and function and servicability.

It has only 2 speeds. Professional chefs say that’s all you need. it has a simple toggle switch, no multiple speed electronic gimmics. Just very functional.

I originally really wanted a glass container. It provided some heft to my old Kitchen-Aid and I thought that it was a sign of higher quality.

For a commercial application you would prefer the unbreakable quality of the polycarbon plastic as well as the lack of weight. It’s light as a feather.

One of the first things I noticed was that the container doesn’t lock to the base. I was originally concerned, but in a commercial setting you’d just keep your hand on it since it’s not going to take long to blend, and then you just quickly pull it off and pour.

I was also concerned that the blade being permenantly mounted inside the container would be hard to clean. (actually you can take it apart with a deep socket and extension, not for cleaning but blade replacement). My Kitchen Aids came apart for cleaning and I could put it in the dishwasher. I find the cleaning instruction are easy with the Waring, actually simple to clean you should just do it right away once your done mixing. Less time to clean and assemble.

What I see now with comparing this to the kitchen-Aid besides what I’ve already mentioned, is that the Kitchen-Aid looks simple through it’s visual design. It’s over designed through what appear to be valuable features which only make it more complicated. You have to do more work from cleaning, assembling and servicing.

The Waring on the other hand is bare bones functional. It was designed to blend and be easily serviced and quickly cleaned.

Customer Review: What You See Is Not What You Get

Hamilton Beach has made their cutter blades the same way for over twenty years - as far back as I can remember. And I’ve used a lot of them. Never had any problems with them. A couple years ago, they came out with the so-called “wave-action” cutter blade. The new cutter blades are a disaster - an example of how to take a perfectly good design and ruin it. What the wave-action blades do - is slosh everything around in the blender jar, creating a mess. It splashes all over the top cover lid. Not only that, but the new cutter blades leak around the bottom, where the round flat rubber seal goes. That’s another thing they changed. The rubber seal that sits below the cutter blades is less in width. Since I do a lot of blending, I have four blender jars and four of these new wave-action blades. All they do is create a mess inside the blender jar and are for more prone to leaking. I have to tighten the base far more than I ever had to in the past. And they still leak.

With all that in mind, I set out looking for some of the old-style blades. I finally found them - or so I thought. I ordered four of these old-style cutter blades. The photo shown on Amazon clearly shows the old style cutter blade. Ah, but everything is not as it seems. To put icing on the cake, Hamilton Beach has done something downright […]. Get this - they show the old style blades on the front of the box, but are putting the new style blades inside. What’s shown on the box does not represent what’s inside. The picture you see here on Amazon, does not represent what’s in the box. Look at the two photos I’ve uploaded that clearly shows this. […]

Update 3/20/07. I did eventually find the old-style cutter blades on Amazon. Do a search for “Hamilton Beach Commercial Bar Blender Blade”. I’ve ordered several of these and can verify these are like the old-style blades.

These are the perfect Blender Bottles!See Testimonies for the Blender Bottle:

SIMPLY PERFECT! (Shelley, MD)
I have always had a problem with mixing protein drinks. Either the stuff would never mix right, and/or it would somehow leak out of the blender/shaker…plus, I could never expect a lid to fit tight and stay tight while carrying the bottle somewhere. I would never have imagined how well something this SIMPLE could work so well!!!! Easy to clean, carry, and drink from too! Thanks for the reviews everyone. You all convinced me to try them, and I LOVE ”EM!

Best I’ve Found (Scott, NC)
“This is the first shaker bottle that works! The lid stays tight and does not leak. The wire ball mixes my shakes very thoroughly. The cap stays in place and snaps shut so you know where it is and when it is closed. The mouth to the bottle and the bottle are both large enough to handle large quantities. I might just buy another set…. “

A Kitchen Necessity (Lucy, FL)
A must have in every kitchen because anything you put into them gets mixed thoroughly and they don’t leak. They’re great for my homemade salad dressings. I’ve mixed batter and puddings and everything comes out smooth. No lumps ever!

Quality Supreme (Dru, AZ)
Durable plastic holds up fabulously well in dishwasher and the color does not fade. The lid screws on perfectly and there are no leaks!! Mixing is so easy. This product is well engineered. All details were thought out before this product hit the market. I just can’t think of anything that needs improving! I’m sure I’ll order the smaller size . . . !

And there are lots more testimonies, too many to put here!

Customer Review: Excellent product

I’ve been using this to mix up various Cytomax protein products, and it works great. If you’ve been mixing using a glass and spoon, you’ll be amazed at how improved your supplement is after a shake in this bottle. :-)

I’ve had it for around two months, using it in the morning and afternoon on most days. It’s held up well, remains easy to clean, and hasn’t developed any leaks.

Customer Review: Great Size!

Service and shipment fast. These are the best blender bottles out there, and this is a wonderful size to take to work.

OXO Good Grips Dough Blender

Blender Accessories No Comments »

An essential tool for making pie crust from scratch (as well as a number of other things) this blender lets you get the job done quickly and comfortably thanks to the strong stainless steel wires and the soft oversized, non-slip handle.

Customer Review: OK but too flexible

The ribs are just too bendy for my taste. I use cold butter and lard so I need something that won’t slip around the edges of the fat instead of cutting through it. I always used two criss-crossed butter knives and don’t find that this works as well. I’d prefer the similarly shaped nut chopper to this.

Customer Review: A great item!

I’m a loyal fan of the OXO Good Grips line. I bought this OXO dough blender to replace an old one I had become frustrated with because it had a wooden handle that had become loose. I’ve used my new OXO dough blender once so far, and it’s exactly what I was looking for.

Plastic blender jar for Oster & Osterizer blenders

Oster Blenders No Comments »

5 cup, square top plastic blender jar. Fits all Oster blender models using a 5 cup jar with a square top. Fits all Oster Kitchen Center models. This is the most common Oster jar type. All Kitchen Centers use this type of jar. This will fit all Oster blenders, but if your is a VERY old model (40 years old), using a 4 cup jar or a new model using a 6 cup jar, your lid will not fit and you may need to purchase the OS-060 lid and cap.

Customer Review: don’t waste your money

This jar only lasted a few weeks before it cracked and fell apart. Save your money and buy Osters stainless steel jar instead

Customer Review: didnt fit

This plastic container is the proper one for my blender, but the fit leaked so badly I had to give the blender away to the thrift store

Hamilton Beach 50200 10-Speed BlendMaster Blender

Hamilton Blenders No Comments »

Blenders are a must-have for smoothies and cocktails, but they are also adept at making baby foods, crumbs, grinding coffee beans, blending batters or soups, chopping veggies or nuts and even smoothing out lumpy gravy. This one offers 10 speeds and a powerful motor as well as a sturdy glass jar and stainless steel blades. A removable blade assembly makes cleaning very simple.

Customer Review: 10 years and still running

I bought this thing ten years ago. I use it on a regular basis to make protein shakes (frozen fruit and ice cubes included). I take it to work sometimes, and, on one occasion I took it on a plane with me. Well, not on the plane, rather inside the plane. In a small bag, wrapped in a towel. When I arrived at my destination I opened the bag and found the plastic bottom open and the motor sticking out. I closed it back together, put some tape over it, and turned it on. This was four years ago. It’s still working. What can I say? I give it four stars, because I get frustrated with it sometimes, as it can take some time to crush ice cubes.

Customer Review: Three Years Before Motor Burned Out

Like another reviewer, I got about three years use before the motor burned out. However, I did use it almost every day/seven times a week - so it got used about 1000 times before it bit the dust. I don’t feel that was too unreasonable considering the price - and considering that Hamilton Beach commercial blenders cost $300-$600.

KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender

KitchenAid Blenders No Comments »

This is the blender of the future. It performs all the traditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning ice cream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter than old-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape the sides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberry daiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks up to the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing 75 recipes–my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté. –Dana Van Nest Editor’s Choice:KitchenAid’s five-speed blender has a number of functions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blender under $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulse function, which works at any of the speeds–a really nice touch. The blender’s 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it more manageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart.

Customer Review: Works BUT coupler broke in 2 yrs

This blender is great when its working! the coupler(the rubber thing which spins the blade) started to wear out and now its completely torn and can’t run the blades!

I called the CS and they say I need to order from a service center which is 100miles away from where I live…

My oster blender which I paid $15 is working from 9 years! but this one broke with in 2yrs.

Customer Review: KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Empire Red

This blender is very powerful and excactly like advertised. I really like it and use it alot. Would highly recommend it to anyone.

Hamilton Beach 52284WV 12-Speed Wave-Action Blender

Hamilton Blenders No Comments »

The WavePower blender from Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex features their revolutionary Wave-Action system. The 48-ounce jar is dishwasher-safe. It operates on 550-watts of peak power.

Customer Review: Great Smoothie Maker, Great Price!

I searched for a blender for awhile. The price ranges were all over the place. I finally decided to get this little guy because it’s lightweight, offered a “wave” action and was inexpensive. I absolutely love it! I previously had a Kenmore (much heavier, much more expensive) and not even that could crush the frozen fruit up as well as this model. Very light, easy to use. There are three “high end” buttons for smoothies, crushed ice and milkshakes. Blends fast and well. Cleaning was fast and easy. I like the fact the base can be taken apart so you can wash all the parts. The wave motion is as advertised and really blended a great smoothie.

Customer Review: careful of the bottom part

yes, it crushes ice really well, but the screw-on bottom can be VERY messy if you accidentally get it loose while taking the blender off the base. Everything just comes gushing out the bottom. It’s not bad, but I would have perferred something with a one-piece bottom.
