Customer Review: Love this blender!

I read previous reviews on this item about how LOUD it is. And I thought, well, all blenders are annoyingly loud. Yes, it is loud, but man does it do the job. Two settings; GO ALL THE WAY and PULSE. That’s all you need. None of this liquify, blend, whip, puree, blah blah blah. I never did see a difference in anything I whipped versus pureed! Thought I was doing something wrong, now I know it’s just a bunch of bologne! The copper looks great on my counter too, with my other copper accents in the kitchen!

Customer Review: Worth every penny

This blender is the first which does everything the appliance is supposed to do. I have never placed much value in our previous blenders or smoothy makers. This blender has only an on/off/pulse switch, no integrated stir stick or any other special “features”. Manufacturers apparently add these gimmicks to try to make you think their blender is better or more functional than the sorry one currently sitting on the counter.

This blender not only does the job, it is very fast and efficient. It turns 3/4 cup of solid ice cubes into snow with a single pulse. No beating, smacking or shaking needed. Ice cream shakes take less than a minute even with carmel or fudge added.

In just a few weeks we have gotten more value from this machine than any we have previously owned. If it burned up tomorrow, I would buy another. Excellent product. For me this product sets the standard for 5 star ratings.

This is a basic, not too fancy instrument. Item description might not be very clear: note that the jar is plastic. A nice feature is that the plastic lid has a removable/lockable measuring cup (1-4 oz). So far the blender works fine .

Customer Review: Replacement Jar & Lid

Purchased this, because after long years of use, the original jar got some cracks near where the handle meets the jar, and because the center part of the lid fell through during use and was rendered useless, the baby food I was making also had to be thrown out after that incident! This is exactly the same as the original one, Oster packaging and everything. Best price that I could find on the web.

Very good blender, no problem with ice. Makes perfect smoothies and shakes.

I like the pulse switch. Highly recommend.

Customer Review: Simple, hopefully durable

After having 2 Hamilton Beach blenders die after 300 smoothies, I tried the Cuisinart Smart Power. Having had it for 3 days, and 5 smoothies, I can’t comment on the durability. But I have a few things to say about usability. First, the squat 50 oz jar does not mix as well as the taller Hamilton Beach jars. Second, the plastic handle is strapped to the glass jar, so drips from pouring the contents get under the straps where they can’t be cleaned. Fortunately, these do not touch the contents inside. Third, the cap on the lid is annoying. It is loose and does not fit snugly. In fact today, as I lifted the lid to add more ice, the cap fell into the wide jar where I didn’t realize what the strange sound was until too late. The blender had no problem chopping the plastic cap into tiny bits - sort of a mini “Will it Blend” episode. (I was able to replace the cap with a better, more snug fitting cap from one of the dead Hamilton Beach blenders.)

The controls are minimal, giving 2 speeds with pulse - this is all I need for smoothies. The buttons are widely spaced and easy to clean so far. The keyboard-like electronic action is much easier to use than typical mechanical buttons. The Hi and Lo buttons either toggle on/off, or are push on release off when the pulse mode is set. There is a count up timer, but I always just look at the way the contents swirl to tell when it is done.

Customer Review: Reviews Almost Scared Me

This wasn’t the model of choice. I had initially bought the Cuisinart SB5600, but when the lower ring locked onto the glass jar,impossible to remove, I returned it and looked for something substantial. The CBT-500’s plastic handle was a turn off as was the shape of the jar. When I came home and read the reviews after the fact, I almost took it back, however, there were some good, positive reviews, so I decided to just turn it on and see what the fuss was about. To begin with, the jar is lighter weight than the all glass jar of both of my former blenders, one Hamilton Beach. I don’t like the idea of a plastic handle. I merely turned the machine on to see what the fuss was about –no fluids, just in case I wanted to return it. The offensive smell was there, but it was like a NEW MOTOR SMELL!!!! Noise? On par with my former Hamilton Beach (I think that was a 700 watt blender) and equally as loud as Cuisiniart SB 5600, another 600 watt blender. This morning, I made my first smoothie. I would have liked more than two blending options. This morning, my senses might be dulled, but the smell is gone. Perhaps Cuisinart heard the complaints and fixed something. Cuisinarts also have a sharper blade than the Hamilton Beach and does a better, faster job. It’s not that I haven’t heard the complaints. I’m aware. I might be eating my words and writing a follow up comment, but so far, so good. Thanks for the heads up on the pouring problem. I went slowly, aimed in a little more towards the middle of my glass and not a drop spilled over. When I turned it back up, it didn’t dribble down the side as the taller jars did. I imagine the rings’ threading are universal on some of the Cuisinarts, maybe including other brands. Can the jar be changed out for a different style? AS much as I dislike the idea of the plastic handle, the jar is lighter than other brands. I’m a little woman and not muscle bound, and it’s not a problem. To those who find it heavy, there’s always the option of plastic, which I saw in Kitchenaid models, but after a while, plastic jars scratch up. I prefer glass, myself.

I’ve used many different styles before, from the free shakers given by companies to expensive retail supplement chains products. But this product mixes better than any other I have used before. Shakes are smooth, and the product is very easy to clean. A+

Customer Review: Sub-Optimal: Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender.

Having been a long time user of a similar product (Moulinex Turbo) for 8 years, my old unit had seen better days and was in need of replacing. So, I made some assumptions about the product based on my experience with my other Cuisinart products and purchased the CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. Much to my dismay, the Cuisinart hand blender performs nowhere nearly as well as the Moulinex did the day I threw it away. The Cuisinart has a blade that is not sharpened. Consequently, it doesn’t cut up food (like blueberries, for instance) very well. It just sort of beats stuff to a pulp, quite literally, and doesn’t puree them into liquid. It also has a system of holes around the perimeter of the blade guard that just get clogged up.

Customer Review: Protein Drink Everwhere!

I owned a Braun Miniprimer Plus Hand Blender, with variable speeds and broad stainless steel housing for the blades. I had it for years and worked great until the motor finally gave up, but it’s no longer available. I purchased the Cuisinart CSB-33 QuikPrep Hand Blender. It is supposed to have two speeds, but really hard to tell the difference and either button needs to be held down very firmly. I always have to use it at high speed and then takes a long time to completely blend. So far I have only used it for light liquids such as protein drinks, sometimes containing a cut-up banana. It can’t chop any firmer fruits or vegetables.

It also cannot stand. The flimsy plastic housing for the blades has 3 little knobs on which this top-heavy blender is supposed to stand. This morning I stood it upright in its two-cup plastic container and it immediately fell over, splashing protein drink everywhere, which then ran under my coffee maker, my very heavy mixer and several cannisters. I am thankful I wasn’t trying to blend hot soup on the stove.

If you aren’t prepared to lay it on its side when not firmly holding it and the container its in, this blender may not be for you, either.

Customer Review: Great little kichen saver!!

My whole family has one and we loves it!!! It’s a live save for onions!!! No kitchen should be without one!!! Just don’t put the whole thing in the dishwasher!!!
